It's that time of year when our reading lists get a little longer. The National Book Awards were announced this week!

If you didn't have your Google alerts set to see which of the finalists would enter the winners' circle, don't sweat it. We've pulled together the volumes that took home the gold. From poetry and fiction to young people's literature, these are the releases that came out on top in 2015. Obviously, they are all pretty brilliant.

Side note: Starting to hunt for stocking stuffers, Secret Santa presents, and holiday gifts in general? Earmark this slideshow. From Ta-Nehisi Coates' Between the World and Me to Pulitzer-winning author Adam Johnson's latest novel, at least one of the following writers or books may work for a tricky recipient on your list.

Or, be selfish and just buy them for yourself. No judgement. Happy reading!

Voyage of the Sable Venus by Robin Coste Lewis
