Will You Be Trying This Bold Swimwear Styling Trick?

Layering and summer weather don't necessarily go hand-in-hand — we know that for a fact, even if we don't like it. But scrolling through Instagram one evening, we found an exception to the "rule": bathing suit layering (yes, you read that correctly). So if you're already getting sick of your swim stash, it's time to give this beach-ready trend a try.

Just when we thought our mean layering skills would have to sit on the bench until fall, a brand called Noe Garments gave us the idea of wearing not just one bathing suit, but two. As pictured here, you can totally throw a triangle top under a plunge suit for a dynamic, new look — and we've come up with a few other combinations that we're planning on trying this summer. Ahead, find four ways to tackle swim layering, and let us know in the comments if you're down to take the trend for a swim.

Plunge One-Piece + Triangle Top

It's time to take a stab at the combination that turned us on to this whole idea. Take a super-plunging one-piece and throw a colorful bikini top underneath to peek out in the middle and across the back. Plus, if you've been a little nervous about going for a deep-V, this is a great way to ease into the silhouette without baring it all. Some breezy, loose shorts and statement sunglasses can complete the look.

Cocodune Director Deep V, $182, available at Cocodune; Tavik Swimwear Jett Top, $70 $59.99, available at Need Supply Co; Zara Belted Studio Shorts, $69.90, available at Zara; Mango Contrast Heel Sandals, $69.99, available at Mango; Raen Figurative Sunglasses, $150, available at Raen.

Strapless One-Piece + One-Shoulder Top

Add some interest to a solid-colored, strapless one-piece by wearing a contrasting one-shouldered bikini top over it. It'll create a combo that looks like a single colorblocked suit, even though it's actually two pieces. Finish it off with some denim shorts and a poolside tote bag.

Rye Pop Bikini Crop Top, $90, available at Rye; Mikoh Antigua One Piece, $304, available at Mikoh; Pixie Market Waist Belt Tie Denim Shorts, $78, available at Pixie Market; Spitfire Hype Sunglasses, $39 $27.30, available at Forever 21; Death in Paris Horizon Blanc Shopper, $157.73, available at Death in Paris.

High-Neck Top + Scoop-Neck Top

Play with two different necklines by wearing a high-neck top under one that's lower cut. You could end up with some funky tan lines (sunblock, people!), but it'll be worth it for the look. Make an outfit of it with some culottes and platform sandals.

Objects Without Meaning Twist Twist Two Piece, $125, available at Need Supply Co; Made By Dawn Coral V Top, $137, available at Made by Dawn; Topshop Pleated Crop Trousers, $60, available at Topshop; Retrosuperfuture Drew Impero Sunglasses, $159.73, available at Farfetch; Opening Ceremony x Teva Satin Flatform, $80, available at Opening Ceremony.

Tank One-Piece + Rashguard Top

Master the athleisure look and protect your shoulders from the sun at the same time by throwing a rashguard top on under a printed one-piece. With a mesh midi-skirt, some cool slides, and tinted sunglasses, you'll look just this side of too cool for the beach.

Giejo Scoop Neck, $195, available at Giejo; T by Alexander Wang Swim Rash Guard Top, $182.32, available at Farfetch; & Other Stories Open Mesh Knit Skirt, $125, available at & Other Stories; SixtySeven Serla Patent White Espadrille Slider Sandals, $55, available at ASOS; Salt Hendricks, $490, available at Salt.
